Wipers won't stop

Alright guys,
My wipers have suddenly been possessed and won't stop when I use the wiper stalk, only when I turn off the ignition. When I turn the ignition back on they don't come back to life unless I nudge the stalk into positon.
The intermittent function has been working in the past but only after the first nudge of the stalk and about 3 mins on continuous wiping.
Looking through the bible the culprits are cited as:
Fuse - don't think it can be this as the wipers wouldn't work in the first place?
Park switch - don't think it can be this as when working the wipers always parked correctly. I cleaned the connections to make sure last night but no change to continuous operation.
Relay - my top candidate at the moment, as I think it is probably sticking.
Any commetns / other causes?
