Hi all, my 97 Chimaera screems at me when I start her up from cold. Sounds like a belt slipping but it only does it on cold starts. I have never herd it while running. Any suggestions?

Sounds like belt to me too. They do do it more from cold. Should be easy enough to check

Yes, Mine does that!

It is the belt. Taking the car in to Team Pro-active next week for the Clutch Master Cylinder (not as bad as it sounds) and they will look at the squeek - usually a tensioner.

Since posting the original message I've been told that it's because the car has air-con and nothing can be done. If this is the case does anyone have any idea's to quieten the squeal?

Yep

I posted this problem about a week agoe, maybe less.

People told me that you can get a spray from an Auto shop that will cure this. Apparently candle wax will also work.

Lastly - adjust the belt tension - I am going to get a geezer to do this for me as I am NOT very good on the ol mechanic type stuff
