Hi Guys...just tried to start i up, turned the key and the petrol pump primed as it should and petrol squirted out the no2 cylinder injector where it goes into the fuel rail...it absolutely gushed out!!!

The clip was in place and sat in there nicely and i cany see why it should have happened...is there a trick i am missing to removing the injector rail and replacing???

I am going to strip it out tomorrow and re-assemble again to see if that cures it...any pointers/tips would be much appreciated but it looks straight forward???

O ring not seated properly or nicked when the fuel rail pushed down.

If fuel comes out it can only be the O ring or the whole thing not assembled properly.

The rail is bolted down in just a few places..

You just ease it up on the one side and remove the injector .. put in new one and push the others home too..

They look like yucky old Lucas injectors..

Make sure you put plenty of vaseline on the rubbers, it is quite easy to twist the rubber!

Just a thought - my V8 leaked around around an injector when the fuel rail pressure went to high after the fuel return pipe to the tank got pinched. The clip wont hold in its slot in the injector body, so the injector just drops down a bit and leaks. Its not obvious as the clip looks inplace. Having thought it was the O ring, I asked the local Range Rover specilist said he'd never seen one fail in 15 years.

As already said you can just about "lift" one side of the fuel rail whilst in situ.
Mine had a wee little nick out of the upper seal
