Ive had an intermittent idling problem for a while now and its driving me mad. Most of the time the car will idle fine, then on other occasions it will start to idle eratically causing the car to jerk all the time while its in motion. One temporary solution is to turn the ignition off and restart it,temporarly clearing the fault, but after a while the problem returns.Any help would be appreciated,as i have got very fond of the box of matches on the mantle piece...

I have had a new one fitted, but still no joy.To be honest i cant see how the stepper motor can cause problems.I have always owned Range Rovers, and have never suffered a problem with a stepper motor, and i have never heard of it happening to any one else.Yet in the world of TVR it seems to be the bain of idling problems.Am i missing something.

How about dodgy HT leads, they move about and start playing up? Just a thought.

If you have friendly LR dealer / auto lec - ask them to read fault code from ECU.

I think it will tell you straight away.

Not everything that goes wrong comes up with a fault code and if it's intermittent it is even less likely to.

I have access to the Autologic diagnostics software program, pluged in yesterday, and you guessed it,i couldnt get the problem to replicate itself.I went through all the various fault codes and all there values read true.I even swapped the E.C.U over with a spare one i have and no joy.
