Had a good drive today to glossop from derby took on the snake pass luverley views and a great car for those roads.
On the way back sat nav took me off the beaten track through very little traffic and no cameras roads.
So i really gave the car some beans through the gears where i could.
About half way home the car seem to find another gear got more power out of each gear from say 3000 revs.
Is it me or can the engine change ive had the car a year and nearly done 4k
Maybe im imagining it but ive got doubts now about changing the car for a 4.5
Its a 4 litre and everything today was perfect roof off windows down open roads and no cameras 200 mile round trip.
Using V power.

Sometimes it just all comes together, it's called being in "the zone".

I've had trips like that and I have never had any thoughts about changing my 400.

Nice post.

Humidity in the atmosphere can have a noticble impact on improving performance. But that blast through the gears burned some deposits off the plugs and things probably got better from therethumbup

Ive got a 500 and also notice this... some days its quickish, and some days it feels like a rocket!! I think petrol has a lot to do with it, I find a full tank of Esso 97, let it run down to half full and then top up with Vmax gives the best performance.. the resultant octane mix must be spot on for the timing.. cooler air does make it a lot quicker also..

I think there is a fair amount of placebo effect, when the tyres are warm and grippy you just have so much more confidence to push on wink

Funny you should say that.
I had a quarter of a tank of jet fuel in it (not the plane fuel) at the time of putting £30 quids worth of V power in it for the whole journey.
Surley it would of mixed though.
I've read about worn cams and sticking valves could it have anything to do with it?
It's still very lively.
Normally i use Vpower depending where im at at the time of refueling.

Yes the fuels would have mixed, my theory is that the resultant octane would be somewhere between the two and is spot on for the timing.,. I find V-max (98) is smooth and doesnt pink, where as the 97 pulls a lot stronger but does pink especially when hot.. hence somewhere between the two is about right..Ive done this a few times now, and it does seem to be the case...however, I might be talking rubbish!
