One of my side lights doesnt work.

So I have checked the manual. It appears I need to get in behind the light through the wheel arch!!!!

So far I have just had a look but wanted to get advice. I have put full right lock on to give me maximum space. I see two screws and a circular hatch type thing - assume I've got to take these out... Am I going the right way????

yes mate!! it seems a bit weird, but that is right... quite fiddly iirc.

get some good sealant for when you reapply the cover, to stop road goo getting in there!

cheers

Is this (through the wheel arch into the same compartment) also how you would remove the lens in order to fit a clear lens?

Sika flex 552 hybrid polyeurethane adhesive is the stuff you want. Dont get fobbed off with 221, its more of a sealant. Its difficult to find and a bit pricy by I woulnt want to take the risk of the compartment filling up with water.

Funnily enough thats what holds the lens in in the first place (pre-facelift). Best to pull the lens ou of the mesh from the inside (or do as I did and pull the mesh out and replace the lens on the bench then replace) from the inside then you will see whats going on, the body is screwed onto the lens and the lens is bonded into the mesh.

It will anyway if the drainage holes have been blocked? You cant stop water coming in from the grilles can you?

I would use 221, and smear vaseline+cling film on one surface so it comes off in 1 piece in the future...
