Is it possible to replace the pinion seal with the rack in situ? What is the procedure?

According to my cars history various PAS pipes have leaked in the past and I want to disturb as few joints as possible to do the job so I don't end up going round in circles!

Yes,do a search on the alternative parts list(someone said its the same as a Bmw seal)or try Racing Green up that London like, dont forget to fill the seals lip with grease before fitting and use insulation tape around the Racks pinion splines when you fit seal over the shaft so you dont snag the lips on the seal(easily done)then remove the tape when slid home, good luckwink

Thanks.

I am more concerned with getting the old seal out without damaging the seat. This could be why it is leaking anyway because service history suggests 2 seals since rack recon!
