Hope everyone had a good weekend in the sun, unfortuinatly my chim didnt get to move!! Stinker.

I had an even closer inspection of the leak in the engine on Saturday.

After taking the drivers side wheel off to clean down and perform some por15 work in the chassie for the winter months (Chassie looks fairly good, did the same to her last year - seems to have worked, just dont get that stuff on your hands!! Wax oil is going on next weekend before i get it fixed.) I noticed the leak was coming from the gasket at the bottom of the engine from the front corner.

Which gasket is this? Is it the "Chest Gasket"? How much should this gasket cost to replace?

Sorry for the stupid question.

Thanks for your help.

Andy.

Thats quite a tricky area to identify where the leak is coming from, you really need to clean up the whole area and check again. It could be the water pump, the pump gasket, or the front (aka timing aka oil) cover gasket. Water pump is easy enough, the front cover is a little more involved..

Sounds like either the timing cover gasket or water pump gasket, from your description.

Thanks for your help guys

I can see the coolant coming out of the engine, its a dripping leak, it looks like the gasket/seal it is right at the bottom of the engine on the drivers side but at the front. I Held some dry cloth above the area to make sure it wasnt coming from the nut/bolt above - and it didnt. would a picture help?

Thanks again.

Copious cleaning with kitchen roll - you really want to be sure its the cover gasket, its quite a long job.

OTOH:
I'd remove the Y-piece (but mine is bolted flange not a silly dog collar)
Undo the crank pulley bolt (impact wrench or gorilla method)
Drain coolant & oil
Remove fan belt, water pump (can leave on if you want - but I'd renew both)
Mark & remove dizzy (careful marking of where it is & where it comes out is required)
Spin off front cover.
Clean copiously mating faces.
Refit with good quality gaskets, as well as hylomar on bolts that go thru waterways.

IMHO, you have done most of the hard work for a cam change, in case you have been thinking about it.

Thats prob not an extensive list, just to give you an idea so that you are really sure its not the water pump ( which is trivial in comparison ).
