My driver door speaker has packed up, I've had it out and can't see any obvious wire breaks, what's my next action?

P.S. Can you test speakers with a multi-meter?

I had the same problem. If you're sure it's the speaker, I don't think there's anything you can do to fix it (assuming it's the standard Pioneer job). I replaced mine.

Cheers Paul, it just doesn't work so don't know if it's the speaker itself or fault elsewhere - not sure how to check.

P.S. It is the original Pioneer one, is it common for speakers to pack up, I thought there was liitle to them to go wrong?

Two bits of wire and a small battery, connect to speaker and should see some movement in the cone, doubt the speaker itself has packed up though, unless it was being over driven.
Remember years back the wire fixed to the cone broke off on a 16" cheapo disco speaker.

Normally always an annoying loose wire or amp problem. How old is your head unit?

On a similar note, my front right speaker works with radio, but not with the CD player. Anyone got any ideas?

another way is to swap left and right speakers - two minute job. My money is on the wiring either where it goes between door and body, or where it bends once it's in the cabin (behind RH carpet on side of drivers footwell).

That has to be an internal problem with the CD/radio. Probably the CD pre-amp not giving an output on the RH channel.

Sorted now - get this, in typical TVR fashion, only the passenger door speaker works when engine off but both work fine when engine running!!

I fitted MB Quart componet ones, ordered from the US (about half the price of here)
They do have huge separate crossover units which don't fit in the doors (fitted mine in the boot underneath the removable panel above the petrol tank)
It is a right pain to fit them as you have to get wires from the head unit to the boot then back to the doors

They sound amazing.....
You can buy the ones that don't have separate crossovers, doubt they sound as good though
