Hi all,

just ordered a silicone elbow from "autobahn88" (Hongkong based company) through a german dealer.

I went for the oversize 83 mm to compensate a bit for the air being forced through 90 deg. Is it advisable to insert a cone or something to adjust the 83 mm pipe to the 65 mm plenum intake to smoothen the airflow?

Thanks,
Stefan

Isn't that too large at both ends? As long as the corner is smooth there's no great harm, so I suggest you concentrate on keeping the path smooth and avoiding edges or step changes at any of the joints.

It's 80 mm on the AFM and 72 mm outside on the plenum. The 83 mm value was quoted by mongoose on an earlier post. The "oversize" was also mentioned in other post, so I thought it might be a good start. I'm going to keep the path smooth at the joints then so as not to disturb the airflow too much.

Ream out the inside of the plenum throat to remove the step, not sure it makes much difference I just did it in a moment of contemplation a few years ago wink

Maybe I should worry less about improvements and go for a ride more often instead! :-)))))
