over filling petrol tank
Discussion
Hi ya,
Having just bought my first rocket ship two weeks ago im still getting used to her. I have a 2000 chimaera 4.5 and it seems when I fill the tank up with petrol, it leaks in the boot. Is this normal or should I take her to the dealer garage.
Also does any one have any ideas on how to stop the door release in the arm rest falling off, it seems its help on by a grub screw which keeps on coming loose.
cheers

It depends where it is leaking from. If I overfill mine it leaks from the cap area and runs down the boot channel and can damage the paint. Now when I fill up and the pump stops I don't try to get that little bit extra in, usually to round up the price and haven't had a leak since. If it's leaking into the actual boot I would get it looked at. Just my two pennies worth!

Hi Jim,Try Threadlock or something similar. Add a little in the hole for the grub screw, not too much else it might be hell if you ever needed to remove it in the future ?!? Wind in the grub screw thight and leave to set... instructions will tell you how long ?!?!
I think, but stand to be corrected, that the fuel tank is connected to the car bodywork via a rubber tube held on with Jubilee clips. If the leaking is between the filling point and the top of the tanks it could just be the clips or a damaged hose ??
