Ignition lights on but no starter moter

Typically on holiday and tried to start Chim in Carpark inthe depths of Bodmin and nothing ,all the ignition lights come on ,called the AA man (very helpful )in the end he ran a wire from the starter to my power pack which immediately started the Car ,but still can,t get the starter to work from the Key .
Unfortunately I have not brought the bible with me ,could it be a relay if so can anyon identify it for me .Thanks

Could be the connector between the switch and the main loom, or the immboliser, or (if you have had a relay added to the solenoid circuit) a relay fault.

Thanks ,As a temporary measure I have run a cable and switch from the battery to the starter motor .This is keeping me running without having to rely on the power pack .Home in a few days and I will check in the bible
