At the last service (approx. 200 miles ago) I had new Front pads fitted as the old ones had cracked. After the service the brakes felt less effective than with the old pads but I assumed that it would improve once they bedded in. Also noticed that when under breaking at above 50 mph I get some vibration through the steering wheel. Could this be caused by the pads (i.e. wrong ons fitted) or is it more likely that the discs also need replacing?

If there is a lip on the disc due to wear then until the new pads have worn into this shape I expect you would get some vibration. The discs really should be skimmed/replaced to overcome this.
But I think it's a matter of how much of a lip there is (if that's the problem)
