For all potential Chimaera owners...
Discussion
Perhaps against my better judgement I have accepted a posting in Accra (Ghana, West Africa) and once I have cleaned it up and made it look pretty, the Chimaera will be up for sale. The car is fine, but I still have a sneaky feeling that it would overheat out there...
Anyway - I wanted to write that most of the stuff that appears on this forum is quite off-putting for the potential owner and I would like to re-dress the balance.
I've had my car for 18 months now. It was not perfect when I bought it from David Gerald, and is not going to be perfect when I sell it. It's mechanically very sound, but I'm not one of these concourse people if you know what I mean!
Aside from an extensive chassis refurbishment (which was hell, but I still enjoyed!) and a few minor niggles I have had NO major problems with it all. The minor niggles have all presented a challenge and not a headache. The service costs have been about £1000 a year.
If you enter into the ownership of one of these cars with your eyes wide open, enjoy a little fettling and believe that owning a car is about more than just driving it, then get one of these. I cannot honestly think of a car that is over 10 years old that would give me so much enjoyment and performance for so little outlay!
So - if you're teetering on the edge of ownership, stop dallying. Go and buy!

Yeah! Good man and well put!
I am selling my car and it has been just a fantastic car to own and, more so, drive and has not let me down (reason for selling is to hopefully get a Tuscan incase you are wondering!)
I had the jitters before entering in to ownership but I can't honestly say that I am addicted now and will continue to buy TVR's as long as I have the means!
I used Rob Ingleby to source my car and I am very pleased I did.
Cheers,
Phil.

To put that into perspective, I have a '92 BMW 325 coupe which has given me more grief than you'd believe and has cost around £2500 in the last year to keep road-worthy
The Chimaera is almost definately my next buy and from what I have read on here nowhere near as problematic and expensive as a lot of (mainly non-TVR owner) people say
To give some idea, I bought mine privately (probabbly spelt incorrectly) and saved about £2k. Had to have the steering rack overhalled (£650ish - therefore I am still in the green compared with buying from a dealer - having said that I am more than willing to do stuff myself).
Appart from that I had a miss-fire on one cylinder, which I fixed myself by cleaning the plugs and cost nothing (appart from ripping my arm on one of the pop rivets that holds the heat shield to the body... however no panic I did not blead on the car!).
My last company car got through new disks (all round), overhalled gearbox, windscreen and the drivers door window got stuck down in the same timespan....
Take your pick (i know which I prefer).

I had no problem with the report.
Give him a call and a gentle reminder e-mail. I am sure that it is an oversight.
In my experience, I have never suceeded in getting what I want by going at it.
Coach, I actually get on well with Rob and have recommended him to dozens. I have tried phoning, gentle e-mail reminders (at least 4 times) even SAW him at Rockingham about 6 weeks ago and gave him a nudge. I even sent him a pro-forma spreadsheet for him to complete jus after I got the car! I hear he's going to PisonFest so I will be taking a sharp stick along with me.........
