Hi All,

Anyone any ideas where i can get some sort of quick release clamp, similar to the type used on pedal bike seat posts and stuff in roughly 64-65mm diameter?

Got some trackday silencers, which i want to be able to attach and remove quickly so i can use them on those early morning starts aswell as trackdays

Thanks

Matt

Don't think I'd be happy with the usual 'over centre' type quick release clamps because of all the heat and vibration they'll be suffering from. Perhaps you could either use an ordinary clamp (quick enough to do up / release with a ratchet spanner) or perhaps just arrange a friction fit with a generous overlap and then put a pin and clip through (I've seen lots of inserts secured like this, ideal in that case because they don't need the mechanical support provided by a normal clamp).

I wondered about this.

Are you thinking of using them just to get down the road away from the neigbours, and then taking them off ?

I am about to but a Chim and I am a bit worried about being anti-social to my neighbours at 6.00 am.

Thats the plan yes, the echo/bufferting when the car is started in the garage really makes it sound much louder than it is, so silencers on for any early starts, then off when 1/2mile down the road.

Assuming i can find a quick method of attachment, i'm thinking drill the tailpipes so i can put a peg through or something

Thanks

I don't know whether you'd like the look of them, but it's possible to get exhaust inserts with adjustable baffles a bit like an exhaust throttle, that you can open or close to control the noise levels.
