Heyup if its that blue one a 2003 I would go for it !!!, a service £400 quid or less. 3 months warranty ok for anything major. I had 12 months and didnt use it. Did the dealer consider the offer ??, did he offer any movement on price ?

Jeeez, do you want icing on it? Lots on here will tell you to pay pennies, hang out for that and you will either lose the car you want or buy a lemon. You get what you pay for. If it's cheap, there's a reason.

Correct !. It also ends up cheaper in the long run , expenses / resale / wasted time / cost of driving around the country .

well since i have bought mine I have looked every day on pistonheads and autotrader and have not found anything close to what i got for the price I paid from a dealer. Yep you will do better private but it will be a long slog if you are prepared to wait until the right one comes along. Just go for it , they arent many 2003 models around

As he said!!!
Remember an 03 car is only 4 years or so old. 18k from a dealer sounds pretty good to me foe one of the last and best equipped Chims.
Many on here do come up with tales of I bought such and such for 5 grand etc - therefore with that one purchase determining the value of every single Chim out there. May well be that the seller was just desperate or just pure luck. Take a look at AndyW's chim for an example of what happens when you find a supposed cheap bargain Chim!

Just to give you some reassurance that you're not paying silly money, Fernhurst (http://www.fernhurst-tvr.co.uk/) have a 02 Chim 500 facelift model in but it's already sold at a sticker price of £23K!!! Give the guy his £18K for that 03 car or someone else will... (assuming it's in good nick)

Before you dive in research the history thoroughly and have it inspected by a TVR specialist, it'll be the best money you ever spent.

If you like it and it's HPI clear, but you've still got doubts, why not try and put a deposit pending a positive check.

...and i paid nearly 9k for mine!!!!
I never knew about pistonheads until AFTER i bought my chim...take heed of what people say on here...condition, condition, condition.

get someone who knows the cars inside out and take them along to have a look.
Take it for a few test drives and let it tick over for 10-15 minutes and see if it overheats...other than that there is not really a huge amount can go wrong that you wouldnt get on any other car...

...and whats the worst that can happen... wink

Pretty much all the things on any four year old car...a lot depends on the nut behind the wheel (as they say)

May be too late now but you might be able to get them to extend the warranty and get the service done for the full £18k price.

It needs a full service....

... a service, £400 or less...

Heard that one before. Problem is a full service flags up what else needs doing. Get them to do the service, then think about parting with 18k.
