Has anyone modified their hood so that it could fold right down? It would all look so much better if it were flush with the boot lid. Be able to see clearly through the rear view mirror too. I guess the rigid hoop would have to be modified to clear the area where the belts are bolted to or perhaps a quick release arrangement to remove the whole lot? It would be an interesting project with an old hood from a breakers.
Any ideas chaps?

Remember that the rear 'lip' when the hood is folded acts as a buffeting barrier - this is why you don't need one of those poncy nets or screens between the seats sported by other convertible drivers.
How about some kind of a periscope mirror which swings upwards more giving better rear visibility?

Trefor...
My thoughts exactly re the 'periscope mirror' idea - given it some thought, but not yet done anything about it - think some sort of clip device to attach it to the rearview mirror may be the way to go.
There again, why worry about what's behind you? They ain't gonna catch up!

Dont have any ideas - but you're right it is a pain in the arse and spoils the looks a bit - I end up driving 'targa' most of the time, although thats for the sake of my license as much as anything.....
Side mirrors? White vans and lambos seem to manage without a rearview
Come on boys & girls, it's more for the look of the car rather than rear view mirrors or a little bit of wind behind. Seriously, does no-one think well it would look with a clean line down the car when in fresh air mode (without a periscope...!!!???). Don't get me wrong, I love it to bits as it is, but it could be improved.
One has to ask why TVR designed the hood to not fold full down. There is already an indent next to the seatbelt, why didn't they make it deeper as that is what seems to stop the hood from being fully folded.
I would presume that there was a good reason although with TVR, this is not necessarily the case.

TVR have designed the Tamora so its rear hood section folds virtually flat.
I have though about a fold flat rear on a chim/griff but the seat belt attachment moulding is the problem.
wolosp,If you were going to quick release the two screws on the sides by the seats that pivol the rear section and have a plug for the hoop light, there is still the question of the seal between the lower rear section and the body work and more importantly the aluminium stays which are bolted to the body and the rear section. These would have to come adrift somehow too. Nice idea though!
If somebody cracks it let me know!
cheers

I never realised this fact when considering the Chim/Griff decision. It would have been a factor. I could fold the rear header away on my wedge and still see out of the mirror. I thought at first it was short-arse me! - but everybody seems to suffer.
Desperate for solution or it may have to go! (only kidding)
