Tips for a T.V.R. virgin please !
Discussion
It's Sunday morning in Plymouth and I only yesterday I returned from Reading with my 1995 T.V.R. Chimaera 4.0 , my first T.V.R. and I am absolutely in awe of it but in age old tradition there are a few problems with it can you help ? The speedo has an intermitant fault whereas sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't ? Is the speedo meant to be duller than the rev counter ? When I first started driving the wipers would stop wherever they felt like it , then halfway home came on by themselves and would not turn off , I ended up unplugging the motor ?!! Passenger mirror does not work , any common faults ? Any other general hints would be appreciated , apart from that , any apprehensions I had about buying the car soon disappeared into a cloud of V8 burble yesterday .....pure sex !
Many congrats on your purchase ... hope to be joining you soon!
There are many threads on this forum that will answer your questions ... spend time going through them – you'll learn more about your car in one hour than you'd ever believe.
Apparently there are two bulbs in the rev counter and only one in the speedo.

Excellent news, I hope that you have many years of happy ownership.
Most of these issues are probably covered in previous threads. Stepping back for a moment it does sound as though there may be a number of loose connections, or perhaps the electrcs have got damp.
The previoys posting is right. All speedos are not as bright as the tach.
Do the motors whirr away within the mirror to no effect, or is there silence? If the former, it is easily sorted out by refitting the mechanism; if the the latter, you will need to check the motor or the supply to the motor.
I'd suggest checking out the local (independent?) dealer and see what they have to say on all of these. It would give you a chance to vet tem for future servicing etc. Most are generally free with their advice.
Have fun, but watch that right foot in the wet while you get used to him.
