Just got my geo checked on a modern set up and they didn't even comment on it.

As has been said on a couple of the recent tyre threads that difference in profile size doesn't make a massive difference so don't go changing them if they're a good set of tyres !!

It's very common for cars to have different sizes front and rear (and different track widths etc), I can't believe their equipment actually assumes the same sizes all round.

I've yet to find anywhere that are prepared to do the 4-wheel alignment on my Chim

I've had all kinds of excuses from, 'no mate, we did one of those before & the front spoiler got damaged when we drove it off the ramps'
To, 'Sorry we can't/won't do TVR's with our equipment'

Any idea how much it should cost if i manage to find someone to do it, have been advised somewhere between £50-£120 (not very helpful really)?

Cheers

I took mine to a place that was recommened by three different people (all in the trade) who have got some expensive equipment to do it all. All depends on what needs changing really, each adjustment had its price, i.e. 30 quid for camber another 30 quid for toe-in, 40 quid castor, etc,etc (they weren't the exact prices but you get my drift).

I spent just over a hundred quid on mine to get everything to within the tolerances allowed/recommeneded. Could have spent the same again to get everything 'perfect' but I'd thought I'd run it for a while and keep an eye on tread wear, etc, and then have it checked later on to see if anything needed changing.

Not that far away from you is Racing Green at Ash Vale - give Martin a call 01252 544888. They have what you need to get the job done properly. The before/after difference made me think it was one of the most valuable expenses incurred in 5 years of ownership.

Steve Guglielmi up in Daventry had the Griffiths of mine, Ballistic Banana and Johno in on the same day for 4 wheel alignment and ride height. The price was based on a basic price plus labour for any extra work needed - such as having to get the car on the ramps to apply heat to get the rear adjustment nuts undone which fairly commonly rusts/gets POR15'd

He did a damned good job IMHO and it was £165 well spent for me. And he had no complaints about us hovering about all day, wandering under the cars on the ramps, pointing at things and asking daft questions.

Merit tyres in Frimley Green, Trade Tyres in Guildford and another one near the Eurospec garage near Normandy.

That makes at least 4 places that will do laser 4-wheel alignment in the Farnborough to Guildford area.

The two I've used charged about £65 for all labour (read sweat, since all the linkages and nuts were rusted the first time), checking and print-outs.

Have certainly had mine on a Hunter a few times... the wheel hangers can be a tight fit near the bodywork so it will need careful setting up but is perfectly do-able. Only negative I noticed was I had to tell the operator (twice) how to programme the target data as there wasn't a template existing, and the readings from the car kept moving a after everything was nipped up. Being controversial, I suspect there's so much play inherent in the design that you'll never get the full benefits of the accuracy these rigs are capable of. Mine has all new bushes/joints etc before anyone starts smile
