Having finally sorted out the fuel pump problem, (Turned out to be a sticking relay & bad earth. Thanks to all who offered advice.) I now have a new issue!
I just started up to be greeted with an awful racket coming from the top end!
Sounds to me like the sort of noise you get from a tappet with way too wide a gap.
As it was fine last weekend & has not run since I doubt much can suddenly have happened to damage anything.
So if its a stuck hydrulic tappet whats the best course of action to sort it out?
It's got fresh oil in BTW

This happens with mine, and after a couple of miles, soughts itself out. Occurs about every 3-4 months for no obvious reason
. I'm reluctant to investigate as there is absolutely no problem for some weeks.
Not saying your issue is the same, but the same sound. Could be a pad, but not on mine.

Will do. Will i need a new rocker cover gasket when I put it back?
If it's cork, then probably (you may be lucky if you're extremely careful, but I wouldn't count on it). If it's got the rubber gaskets then it will be reusable. If yours has a rubber gasket you will be able to see it at the bottom of the rocker cover.Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
