Just bought my first TVR (400 Chimaera), the car i had always promised myself after 22 years of MKII Escort RS ownership.

The car has developed a distinct " thump" that can be heard from behind the rear seats, happens when it goes over pot holes etc particularly when on the nearside, but also if both wheels go over a strip across the road where they have dug a trench and it has sunk.

Is this the Diff bushes or suspension bushes? How hard are these to replace yourself - i have not bought the bible yet!.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
My Level of mechanical competence is good - i completley stripped and rebuilt my escort to concourse show winner!

Thanks.

welcome to TVR ownership.

If it is the bushes on the diff you will feel the clunk when coming on or off the gas. If this is ok then suspension seems likely. To remove the diff and re bush is about a days work if you learn along the way. Suspension, wait for more learned chaps than me.
