Now that we are getting more than two sunny days in a row it would be really nice to cut down the heat coming into the cabin.
Has anyone managed to completely shut off the heater? Is it a flap or valve and for that matter where is it? The wheel turns and moves the cable properly at the wheel end but would like to physically check what is happening at the other end of the cable.
Do not want to by pass the Heater Matrix as I use this when stuck in traffic.

Turn mine to cold and the heat stops, the control must not be working properly.

On mine (98 Chim) you can shut off the vents in the footwells. Just crawl in there and you should be able to see them. Then hopefully all the other hot air should just fly out, or maybe you aren't going quick enough.

Heaters are notorious - mine is warm to hot to forking hot to sauna. Yesterday for example, the heatsoak from the engine was incredible. Stuck in a traffic jam watching a) temp guage and b)feet and legs melt. Reckon half of the heat is engine rather than heater - fibreglass not renowned for its heat relective qualities!

Thinking laterally - get some thermal longjohns for such occasions!

My heater is a sod to turn off too.
I have noticed though that if I have not turned the heater dial for a week or so then it will stop pushing out hot air, however the air coming out is always a little warm.
If anyone has noticed the same I would be interested to hear otherwise I may have to put it down to an overactive imagination that I have developed since buying the car.

Imagination I'm afraid. My dial stays on full cold 90% of the year and doesn't get touched all summer (only moved to warm on frosty mornings). Air temp from the vents ranges from hot to quite warm.

Sounds like they are all the same then. Is it a valve or flap and does anybody know how to get to them?
