Just serviced the chim, with help from diycerb, changed oil, gearbox oil, diff oil, plugs, filters, coolant hoses for silicone ones from ACT, ACT induction kit with K&N filter, she now runs very well and a bit noiser. I wanted to get more noise form the exhaust and looked at cherry bombs, sleeving, ACT sports etc etc.

Richard (Diycerb)came up with following:-

We took the exhaust of, opened the top side of the silencer box and removed the wadding, leaving it in place down the sides of the perforated pipes, welded the box back up and put the exhaust back on.

The result is, IMHO, an extremely nice sound, not too loud, definitley not quiet, no rasping or rattling, a proper V8 sound.

And the best bit is it cost nothing to do, other than buy Richard a drink.beer

I have now owned the Chim for a year and throughly enjoying being a TVR owner!! thumbup

Lee,
Rich is a top bloke - helped me sort some electrical problems on my V8S. I also work at Esso hence the connection.

I'd also like to modify my exhaust as the standard just sounds a bit anaemic! Where are you ?- I live in Dibden Purlieu, like to do a comparison.

we didn't sleeve the exhaust, just removed the wadding between the two pipes in the silencer and welded the box back up, it creates, IMO, a very TVR sound.

Yes, the exhaust is empty apart from the wadding down the sides of the pipes within the box, the stuff in the centre has been removed, this seems to stop it from rattling or resonating too much.
