I think that I've found the cause of my mad stuttering, so if anyone has a spare throttle position sensor that I can borrow to test my car out before spending a pile of cash on a new one, that'd be bloody awesome.

The car is a Chim 430 Big valve, although I presume they're all the same.

Really hope someone can help - so thanks in advance!

I am in hampshire if it makes any difference.

You should be able to check the throttle pot witha multimeter. Can remember the readings you should get of teh top of my head but can hook them out for you or do a search on here or the Griffith forum and you should find them...Or Spend I would have thought would know them. Remember the reading should be nice and smooth though as you turn the pot.

Have you touched the pot at all as if moved slightly by undoing the screws that hold it in place may be enough to put it out.

I think the one you want is embedded in http://www.v8engines.com/carbs-2.htm#setting-up

Nope, not touched it. The car has had the fault since I got it, though.

Cheers for the link, Spend, will try and find my MMeter later and have a go.

If its any use, i was getting an intermittent engine cutting out on smallish throttle openings(only when on constant throttle,50mph ish)it would die so you automatically moved the throttle then back into life again, rest of the journey could be faultless, when i carried out a check of the TPS twice i had a nice linear curve, trouble was the TPS was failing at certain temps(most annoying)when i checked for the 3rd time hot this time i had an open circuit reading(small glitch),fitted a new Landrover gen part about £60 trouble solved this may not be your problem but check it Hot & Cold use very small movements otherwise you will miss it,to be honest it drove me mad and dident give me much confidence for long journeys,as Spend said multimeter is essential, good luck.

Ok, adjusted it to be 0.35, up from the 0.28 it was on when I first tested it with the Multimeter.

Same symptoms - juddering in low revs, except now its lower revs, and when let off the throttle all togehter. moved down from the 1100-1900 range to say, 1000-1700 ish?

Orderd another (2nd hand) throttle pot off ebay, so we'll see if that helps.

I agree with BB, whilst you have the mm out, have a look at doing a full check on the efi ecu, there are several on-line howto's (even the bible has one IIRC).

Did you reset the ecu, and check if the fault was still coming up?
