Second gear problem
Discussion
I have owned my first TVR (a Chimaera 450) now for 4 weeks.
This is the most awesome car I have ever owned/ driven/ been in.
It may be that I am not used to the car but I have had a problem with it jumping out of second gear.
It only ever happens when changing from first to second BEFORE I put any load on that gear indicating that it may not be fully in gear but at the same time before accelerating the clutch was fully up.
Has anyone else had this problem?????

Chcek that you still have some clutch fluid in the system. Could be that this is low and the clutch is not being fully released.

I'll check that, thanks, but the car was bought from a dealer so wouldn't imagine that to be a problem - you never know though. They claim there is nothing wrong with the car which points the finger back at me. If the clutch fluid level is okay, I'll just have to monitor the situation..
Thanks for the reply.............

The easiest way to check if the clutch is dissengaging properly is to try and put it into reverse(reverse has no syncro). If no matter how long you wait you cannot put it into reverse without grinding noises then the clutch is not dissengaging properly. Popping out as you describe could also be a linkage problem or worse still a gearbox problem. It could also be you are not quite used to the shift yet, hopefully that will turn out to be the case.

They claim there is nothing wrong with the car which points the finger back at me. They all do that sir!
It sounds as though on this particular occasion.
They DON'T all do that sir.
If it was my car and it was under warranty, I would drop it off give the garage my phone number and tell them to ring me later when it has been fixed.
Or are you doing something that makes it pop out of gear?
Cos if it ain't you, then it's the car!
Or have I missed the plot?
Even more importantly A very big WELCOME

Al's right, I assume you have a few years car driving experience
and are not having the problem with any other gear - give it back to the dealer and tell them it's b
d and they have to fix it to your satisfaction. The only thing you need to get used to is a) the power and handling(especially in the wet) and b) the pose value

I have done 600 miles in the last two weeks since collecting it and it has jumped out of second another 4 times. It does not happen in any other gear except second and never happens under hard acceleration.
It seems to happen when driving sensibly where I am not as aggresive with the gear change.......
Any other ideas
PS the clutch fluid and syncro are okay.....

Do you mean it actually jumps out of gear (meaning it goes into gear first) or doesn't quite go in gear to start with? If it's the former - demonstrate it to the dealer. If it's the latter - demonstrate it to the dealer! In this case it's likely to be linkage/selector problem and easy(er) to fix. maybe.
