Any one know what diameter and lenght of fuel pipe is needed to replace the original. Mine is showing its age and i want to change it before the worst happens. Is it a bugger to do yourself?

Easy to do yourself and not a very long job.

It is 8mm id and you will need about 6 meters.

www.fuelsystem.co.uk  found these to be about the cheapest when i replaced mine if that helps.

IF you have air conditioning then the pipes to the fuel exchanger are 7MM, it would also be wise to use fuel line clips rather than J-clips. Adrian@
(if you use 8mm to the exchanger then they pop off under the pump pressure)

Six metres? Did you replace the copper pipe too?

I'm just doing mine (Griffith) now. I bought 1 metre of 7.6 mm injection hose from local Halfords, and that was more than enough to replace the two lengths of rubber fuel hose at the back of the engine. There may even be enough left over to do some of the hoses in the fuel pump/filter area at the back of the car.

Very impressed with the job you have done on your car. I had a petrol leak on the pipe going to the fuel rail and luckily nothing ignited. I replaced the perished bit I could reach but the join to the metal pipe behind the engine does'nt look easy to reach. Did you replace the whole length with rubber pipe and no metal pipe? I'm thinking the 6 metre length you mention that is needed, is it OK to do this?

The piece of pipe that came off my car had 7.5mm on it, no a/c.
