Had a problem with power steering this morning (I think). The steering squeels when turned, and feels heavier than usual. This has only just come on and there were no signs when i last drove the car on Saturday. It carried on all the way to work, and I wondered if it would be down to the pressure changes in the weather possibly expanding and contracting mechanical parts? Being mechanically inept, I am looking for some help.
What are the checks I should do or should I just get it to a garage and let them sort it out?

Check the PAS fluid level... If low top it up. Check that you are not leaking fluid from the pipes and steering. The pipes/joints often fail under the pump. Pretty well covered in the bible BTW.

Just an update for anyone who has PAS problems.
Having topped the fluid up and it leaked again, I have since checked the hoses and the pump, but there was no issue.
Fluid is coming out of the gasket on the steering rack, so a quick trip to Steve Howard is in order as I cannot get my sockets in to take the diamond shaped plate off.
Thanks for the advice, and I have both bibles, 1 st and a 2nd edition.
