Scuttles off to think of a witty response involving neighbours, Golf and fat arses…

Back on topic, I remember I burned the bush a bit first with a blow lamp and pulled it out with some sort of home made puller involving a large socket and some all thread. Possibly I cut the outer metal part of the bush to release it also.
Someone who has done this more recently will be along shortly.

I was too scared to burn the bush out, so took my time on my back... Those drills that are described as hole saws seem to drill easily through the rubber, I used an air drill but a battery drill might get in the limited access you have. Then sawed through the outer sleeve - again an air saw was a boon, finished off by hand as I tapped it out with a punch (so as not to cut into the chassis mount). I had the diff & driveshafts removed so had as much space as feasible, would imagine it is a bit trickier with them in place. Whatever you do, get the back end plenty high enough preferably on ramps, stands would only get in the way.
Pressing in the poly bushes was hard enough, not sure I would want to replace with metelastic ones?

I'm a veteran of changing (classic) Mini Cooper clutches with the engine in, which is not usually recommended. So i'm going to have a go at all three bushes with the diff still in but moveable.
I'll let you know how I get on!

Just done mine on sunday all day job lots of bad language in the end got top bush out with mini porta power as i run a bodyshop. So if you know anyone in this work to lend.Once you have bushes out don·t make my mistake and fit new ones without first making sure they slot in between bolt holes as i had to finely file mine because would not go in
Diff is now out and awaiting a clean.
Biggest problem was actually getting a socket on the top bush bolt. Either the chassis, brakepipes or the diff itself got in the way and made it virtually impossible to get at either the nut or the bolt.
The void bush removal tool still hasn't arrived in the post, but I've got plenty to do under there while the diff is out anyway.

Here is where being a TVR specialist for 30 years comes into play....The 1961/2 TVR Grantura 2a's ran with swing arm suspension, where you had to fit the opposite side swing arm bushes into the chassis, using a special tool which would draw the bush through a full width tube that carried the torsion bars.
