Having seen the state of my air filter (the pic below does not do it justice - it was badly caked with crud and God knows when it was last changed) I fitted the replacement this evening.
Those nice chaps at Clever Trevor let me have a Pipercross filter for the same price as the OEM one they stock - a saving of over £10 smile

So to the fitting - a bit of a fiddle and a lot of cursing. I found that loosening the air duct bolt (see pic below) helped give some adjustment.

Not sure if its just all that improved air flow provided via the new filter but took the car for a spin after fitting and it was idling like a pig on occasion - stalled when I dipped the clutch and engaged first then spluttered as I pulled away then when I got back home and parked up went to 2000 rpm for a short time before settling frown

The old one was somewhat beyond what was realised and yes I lightly applied the Air Filter Dirt Retentative Spray that was included with the filter in addition to the detailed and comprehensive instructions.

No,it should come pre/oiled,worth checking though the material/cotton should be reddish in colour.

I know you meant to clean them, but the cleaning stuff is about as much as a new filter anyhoo.

I recently got a bargain. Called AbsolutelyShocks to get a new pair of cups for my front Gaz units. Customer service is second to none.
