drove the Chim to work this morning, at the end of the raod i was pretty misted up so flicked on the heater and....nothing. Is there a specific fuse that needs changing, or could it be somethiong more worrying..?

Thanks for the help.

Yes it could be worse, I think the cabin heater & fan has its own ECU which could need replacing.

Can i just check that you also twiddled the fan knob clockwise as far as it goes (increases the speed of the fan to maximum). If this doesn't work you may need to press it again (meaning the fan was on but running at minimum speed and therefore virtually silent, so you inadvertently turned it off).

Apologies if i am stating the obvious.

unfortunately, i've already tried all that, stilln ot working. have found some good advice on other threads which i'll check. looks like it may be a dashboard off fix though.

If it's not the fuse the next most likely culprit is the connector on the fan ECU. The ECU itself is normally ok, but the connector tends to overheat. It can be repaired if you're handy with a soldering iron. Unfortunately you need to take the dash top off: the ECU sits underneath it, usually near the centre.

Sorry to hear that your fan's packed in Chugger.

As also mentioned by Cider Andy, if all the fuses have checked out ok, I'd also be looking more at the controller than the fan itself.

Here's a link to a topic with images of mine which burnt out the other year to give you an idea of where abouts under the dash it is.

Thanks CC, before i go ahead with the big job, can someone just confirm which fuses control the heater fan so i can double check?

One other thing to check. I had a similar problem and it turned out that the twiddler of the twiddly knob had become slightly loose, so when I pushed it in, the clicker bit wasn't actually clicking because the twiddler was sliding on the spindle. This was only marginal and wasn't noticeable, but enough to prevent a firm on or off click from happening. It just felt like it was heppening. You will need a small Alan key to remove the twiddler then you can push the spindle directly. If ht eblower works replace the twiddler and ensure it is tight.
