Having searched the forum, am I right that to repair the exhaust manifold where the 4 pipes come together is a matter of cutting the manifold after this point and welding the leak, then rewelding the other section back on?

I ask this as BOTH my manifolds have a leak at this point one bad one not so bad.

you should be able to do as you say, providing the leak isnt to far down, so as to be able to weld it properly, I`d cut as close as I could to the 4 pipe entrance bit, bearing in mind you have to weld it back up again, and remember to mark the position of the pipe so when you weld it back on, the flange and the manifold flanges still mate up properly.

Thanks clive f, I will have them off and give it a go as dont fancy the cost of new ones...

As you say so long as the hole is not too far down should not be too difficult.

I will post again when done.

I had to do both of mine i cut with saw welded cracks up and rewelded , a good tip is cut half way through pipe then at a slightly different angle cut from other side then its easyer to weld back together in the right place.

Good idea about the pre cats I think they will have to go. I have got one side off (having a break to let the skin grow back) will get the other side off this week.
