Multistorey car park in Leicester city centre. Between 7-30 and 11 am. They broke the passenger window and tried to remove radio. Some bits of radio still in there but it will never work again. The lower wooden dash around the radio will need replacing too (someone doesnt have a spare or know where i can get one do they?)

Perhaps I shouldnt have left the face plate of the radio on view, but I didnt think it was worth enough to break in for. Question is, dare i take the car in to work again?

Just in from hoovering and sweeping all the broken glass. Felt sad as I closed the garage door.

Sorry to hear that mate Firkers ned there hands chopping off.
As for not thinking your Radio isnt worth much. unfortunatly to most druggies anything they can sell for there next hit is worth it how ever worthless u may think it is even if they get a tenner for it there do it.

Tough luck mate, have had a car broke into before and know how angry it can make you feel.

Sorry to about that Slowrider,

If you are looking at replacing the old stereo with something similar I've just replaced my pioneer standard issue stereo, which is available and if you're interested your welcome to it, let me know if it is of use.

I know exactly how you feelabout 2 years ago i had my radio nicked from the chim in a museum car park !!!

same story broke the side window, smashed the lower dash panel and removed the radio... the worst bits are

a) it was pissing down with rain so the car was soaked when i got to it and b) i never bolt the radio in so they could have just puuled it out FFS.

still not got the radio panel fixed though ;(

G

I hadnt had that radio in long either..

im sure i've go the original one somewhere

Thanks very much for the offer. Nice of you, but I am taking it down to Offord on Friday. Unfortunately it will be at least a week down there.

It was the hospital multistorey opposite the Infirmary, just next to the prison. No cameras. Security were just trying to contact me 6 hours after I discovered it at lunch time. Somehow "Security" doesnt seem quite the right name for them.

What colour is your chimaera?

I hope this makes you feel a little better, sometimes they do come unstuck. There was a case some time back near where I worked of one such scumbag who legged it when spotted attempting to nick a stereo. The only bad news was he had already broken the window, the good news however was that he ran out in front of a van and was taken away in an ambulance. I realise this does not make me a very nice person but it made my day!

Sorry to hear that, SlowRider, happened to me a while ago with my old GTi and it's a sickener. At least the car itself is OK.

I agree with jessica - don't let the scrotes put you off the pleasure of driving to work in your pride and joy...maybe try to spot a car park with cameras/security patrols? I switched parking when this happened to me (in Leeds, years ago) and although nowhere is completely safe at least I felt I'd tried! (My next GTi got nicked from outside my house and used in a ram raid, but that's another story...)
