You really need to do this as part of an upgrade plan. Carbon trumpets alone won't make much of a difference you need at least to increase the bore of the AFM and the plenum. Add some smoother/better inlet pipes, K&N airfilter and then have a new chip to make best use of the increased breathing. Possibly some new injectors as well.

If you increase the air flow you won't necessarily have to get a rechip as the AFM/ECU will automatically make adjustments.

I would just cut down the standard ones and leave it at that. I cant see the justification in price for the carbon ones for minimal bhp gain. You can spend the money better else where.

Ive recently done mine only takes half hour to do...

Rip em out & flare the base! Less weight & fewer things to fall of/out hehe

I was going to do that...and then wondered about the difference in lengths...?

Did that make much difference dave?

or is it one of those mods that are not really worth the hastle...unlike removing cats and silencer box!!! hehe

The length issue is arguable, so much pressure difference around the plenum and difference in manifold curves??? Radiused trumpets promote better flow... Will these small things make any tangible difference in most cases?? As for the blended base TVR power did it with their Taraka upgrade, Joo doesn't seem to worry with his multi throttle cum base initiative... IIRC (I always seem to get confused on this one!) Joo did some comparative tests which showed blended base was as good as anything (bhp) above part throttle.

Just seems to me that rather than risk having them fall out, if you can do without them then KISS. Eliot sells a flared plastic insert for the base, or you could simply get a radius ground into the portswink
