Water Pump Gasket

Have just popped in to my local garage (not TVR specialist but honest and reliable) to see about getting the gasket behind the water pump replaced. This is the gasket between the pump and the block, which has gone and was leaking. They said that they may not be able to get just a gasket alone so it may be the whole pump that has to be replaced. Has anyone else had this done and was it possible to get just a gasket.
