With a limited budget, I've spotted a high mileage 450 (2000 model) advertised on PH which looks an interesting proposition. Off to view later this week, but knowing that the car is currently ungaraged and with 85K on the clock, the chassis (outriggers) will have taken a beating over the years and there (as with any car)'could' be something unexpected lurking in the mechanics.

So how much should I keep aside to 'put things right' ?

I'm not unduly worried about the mileage itself if the service history is upto date (though it does influence the re-sale value, no doubt).

I'd prefer a facelift 450, but with many other (but older) 4.0 around and a limited budget, they may be the more sensible option.

Views please ... TIA ...

All depends on how it has been cared for. There are some newer cars with dubious looking outriggers, and older ones that look immaculate.

Buy on condition

Hmm... varies. I know some cars that had new cams at 20k, others have done over 100k... worth checking though.
