can anyone explain

this week my steering went really heavy, so i checked the power steering resevoir and it was low, so topped it up with atf.
But there was no noticible improvement, did the thing about full lock yesterday, no difference. this morning checked the fluid, still ok, checked the oil and noticed it was a bit low, ( just a tad, and i know should have checked it earlier ).
topped it up and now the steering seems fine ( still a tad heavy, but nothing compared to yeterday)

can anyone explain this?

Air lock? - which gradually cleared, hence fluid down again.

There is only one reservoir for the power steering fluid, its next to the plenum (big oblong ally box on top of the engine), what other oil are you checking?

Turn it full lock to each side and top up. Its self bleeding that way, may need to do it a few times to get out an airlock. See if that helps.
