Relays SPNO or SPDT
Discussion
Over the winter Im hoping to do 2 mods. One is to make the lights brighter. To do this Im going to run a new twin cable from the battery to the offside. This will be my new 12V supply. Im then going to use 2 relays. 1 for dip 1 for main. I was hoping to use the current offiside light supply to actuate a relay to that would switch on the new 12V supply to supply the offside light (and do the same for main beam). But, do I need a SPNO relay or a SPDT? Is the SPNO normally only intended for momentary operation?
Similarly, Im also want to do a mod over the winter to allow me to switch my boot opening solenoid from a magnetic switch. If I fed a relay with 12V, would an SPNO operate for long enough to actuate the solenoid?
Im not really very knowledgable on relays, and have only guessed at what they do by their names. Can anyone shed a bit more light on it?
Many Thanks

Why don't you use common a garden automotive bits from somewhere like VWP? any single make/break relay will suffice, pick the common ones as they are easier to replace. You can get relay holders, and a relay holder + fuse holders for the front lighting.
VWP also sell the appropriate grades of automotive cable you will need - in colours that make sense (beware cars full of solid red, black... wires IMO)
