I appologise to those of you in the TVRCC as I posted this there too, but not sure how much overlap there is in membership! I picked up a 2000 chimaera 450 in GTS pearlescent blue a couple of weeks back and am now thinking about changing a few things...

Has anyone any experience with HID headlamps on a Chimaera? I saw these on Ebay (I know the item ended, but if you scroll down you can still see it) and they seemed dramatically cheaper than the other alternatives I found on google, which have typically been in the hundreds of pounds, but with my limited knowledge I can't see a flaw. Are these road legal or is there some other issue?

Also, has anybody tried these raceproved mirrors (on sale throug Clever Trevor)?

They look pretty nice, but would be good to talk to someone who's tried them to see what they're like to use in reality. One thing that puts me off is that I can't see a button on the bottom to open the doors, but maybe it's just well hidden!

Cheers,
Nick

I have the raceproved mirrors on my V8S and they are really nicely shaped and compliment the chimaeras and griffs shape nicely.

They are not HID ??? Some of us have proper Hid conversions, there was a thread on it recently (and the leagality thereof). Yes I have them, but I also have different headlights...

Joo (trackcar) has fitted the mirrors to his V8S IIRC. He may also give you info on Hid on H4 fittings as he also has some experience wink

Thanks for pointing out the difference - shall look for that thread!

Do the mirrors have a door open button or a space for it? As much as I enjoy looking at the beast, it would be rather sad to fit them and then not be able to get in to use them!

I have bought some of those. I realised that they werent HID. They give a nice colour temperature, a blue white, but not too blue. But they are not that bright, unless you have a brighter lights kit. Not as bright as Phillips 50% brighter or 100w bulbs. They send 501s for your sidelights, but you need the other type. They were very helpful and swapped them for me. But I thought the sidelights they gave me were a bit too blue, so dont use them.
