Took a photocopy of the page in the bible of a letter indicating it was approved at the time of install and faxed it across. They seemed happy enough with that.
I recently had my alarm checked over as I was informed from the previous keeper that the alarm fitted was Cat 1. It's not! In order to be Cat 1 an immobiliser also needs to be fitted. Mine has not got an immobiliser, i.e. the car, after being unlocked for sometime should also arm itself. Mine does not.
It is a Meta alarm however, some of which can be "upgraded" to Cat 1 with an immobiliser fitted to the alarm system.
At some point an immobiliser was fitted to my car because the immobiliser key socket thingy is still fitted to the steering column although its not wired now!
Interestingly when I took out insurance for the Chim. the insurance company stated it was ONLY £9 cheaper if the alarm had been Cat 1. The company did not insist on having a Cat 1 and therefore the car is shown as having a "standard" alarm fitted.
