Xmas knob

My son gave me a shiny new gear knob to replace my battered item, however the old "ball" screws off but there's a collar beneath, anyone any idea how this comes off? as otherwise the new one won't go on (allen screw).

Maybe you need to grip it firmly in both hands.

I admit I was fiddling with it in the dark, I'll have another look in the light, perhaps with the wife's help!

Yep - I got a leven knob for xmas as well!

The old collar just unscrews - or did on mine - just give it some welly it may be tight after all those years.

My leven one came with a collar.
