Anybody made alterations to their bonnet catch system to stop the thing raising at high speed?
I'm thinking of something like I have on the Tuscan. Works great on that. I find that if you go over 140 the left hand side of the bonnet raises so much it can pop out of the fixing.
It also looks crap when you're going past someone and your cars flapping around.
Cheers

Many of us altered it by fitting a splitter :canoworms:

Reinforcing inside the front lip of the bonnet where the hinge mechanism fits is worthwhile IMHO.

I have bonnet retaining pins on the trailing edge, after the bonnet popped open at Bruntingthorpe at about 140 mph. They're not very pretty, though. I also got the hinges reglassed (by Offord Motors) to stop the front edge flapping up and down.

Check the adjustment on the bonnet, perhaps it needs to be moved back a touch. Fit the splitter if its gone AWOL. If you still have a problem a) you must have a pre facelift car with the alloy brace struts and b) you might want to consider fitting a second catch on the other side.

So where can I pick a splitter up from and does anyone have a picture of one?

Try adjusting the cam type fittings that the bonnet rests on at the middle of the each wing. I found that mine had moved over time and were too low to support the bonnet. It was not noticeable when stationary but at speed the lack of support in the centre caused the NSR corner to flap about a bit. Adjusting them as high as possible without the bonnet edge being higher than the wing cured the flapping on mine. Could be worth a try before anything else.

They're set up fine, the problem is the bonnet lifts of these.
