How about getting it assessed by a TVR specialist, for condition? Ain't nothing that can't be fixed, but you want to know if it's going to be anything costly right?
Bear in mind that age is the friend of the tin worm, rather than mileage - it only has to do 5 miles a year and be parked up for any chassis to corrode. Mostly likely a higher mileage car has had regular TLC as witnessed by the Full Service History?
Pah, 60k - hardly run in........

I'm looking at high miler 5 Litres (due to budget).
Even if the engine and clutch are sorted, can expect problems with chassis, suspension etc?
Mileages 60k+.

I`ve seen a few 100k ers for sale on here before and they got snapped up pretty quick. There is no reason why they shouldn`t go on and on really with the right care and attention. Most of the things that will go wrong are no different to normal cars I suspect as long as the chassis is kept good.
Dr C,
I would agree with Beano500 get whichever car you are after assessed by a TVR specialist.
I have had two high milage Chimaeras and chose them based on condition not milage. They are much better for being used so long as they get the right TLC.
My old 1995 400 now has 102K miles on it so i am told, still going strong!, My 'new' 2000 500 just past 50k miles this week more than my Astra which is also 3 years old and the Chimeara is just as reliable so far.
Happy hunting, George

Was very nearly the proud owner of a 98 R imperial blue 500 with 68k on the clock from Fernies last summer the car drove well and tight infact it was no different (apart from the perfomance) from my (then)40k 400 it had FTVRSH 1 owner and by Fernies standards competivly priced at £16495 only a insulting p/x price
stopped the deal going through - so no i wasn,t put off by the miles as the price reflected the miles

I am the owner of the blue Chimaera from Fernies! Now on 77k and apart from 1 service and some front wishbone bushes she has been great...
Provided you can find a good one, high mileage Chims can be alot of car for the money...

I've driven a few Griffs and Chim's over the years, and I'd suggest that some of the high(er) milers actually drive better than the low milers...
absolutely, everything wears eventually so if the history is good and shows the owner has replaced various items like wishbones, clutch, bushes etc (as reqd) then whats the prob
