Tried to start chim on monday after xmas break, it turned over, fired up for for about two seconds and then stopped. it wont go at all now, it turns over but will not fire, then the battery went flat so i put jump leads on it, it still turns over but will not fire at all.

I left it in the garage with battery charger on for three days and found that the battery isnt charging and when you turn ignition on the fuel pump isnt priming, checked the relays and they arent clicking either, could this be the battery being low or another fault? everything else lights up on dash and i have fault code reader attached which is showing no faults at all with ECU.

The 100amp fuse appears to be OK, does anyone know what else it could be? I think i am going to have to replace the battery at the very least.

As the battery is powerful enough to turn the engine over it will be powerful enough to operate the fuel pump and relay. As it has now been flat it may have upset the immobiliser, which might be why the fuel pump isn't spinning up. If you're fitting a new battery that should cure it. If you're charging the old one, charge it whilst disconnected. Once fully charged replace the terminals smartly. The alarm might sound when first connected.

There could be other causes (two metal-cased relays, fuel pump connectors etc.) but as the car was fine before this is the most likely.

In a similar situation to yours my problem turned out to be a knackered ignition amplifier.

As per previous threads -to reset Imobiliser disconnect battery for 30 secs and reconnect and press fob. Apparently this is requireed when batterey goes flat

This has worked for others

Good Luck

Hi I had the same problem with my car (95 Model)it turned out to be the alarm system needing a reset. Everything on the car functioned as normal apart from the fuel pump which would not run. I had to access the alarm module located under the dashboard on the passeneger side. Once I rest the alarm module the fuel pump primed and all was well. It has not failed again so I have put it down to a glitch in the Alarm system.

Thanks for all the replies, it turned out to be the coil/ignition fuse had broken, not blown, one of the spades on the fuse snapped off. Had to replace battery as well, would not hold charge at all.

Thanks again
