Had a quick search but turned up nothing like this - 1994 Chimaera - SD1 box.
Popped out to the beach parked the car and roasted for a few hours. I sauntered back to the car and reversed to get out the parking spot put the gear lever into where first should be and got nothing - its normally a bit notchy but I got absolutely nothing
Third & fifth feel a little different than normal and there appears to be nothing stopping the gear lever from going from left to right from reverse to third. I suspect a linkage problem, however has anyone experienced anything similar ?
Got home starting in 2nd but I don't want to do this too often.
Oil level in the gear box is about 5-6mm below the fill hole so have topped up and still nothing.
Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem else its off to a dealers to get an opinion.

If you can get it in and out of second, that suggests the 1st/2nd selector is intact, so it's strange if you can get second and third but not first? But anyway, it does sound kind of like a linkage problem. The worry in my mind is that it might now be possible to select two gears at once. Normally impossible, but if the selector mechanism is playing up, who knows? If this happened the back wheels would immediately lock solid which could be extremely dangerous, not to mention damaging the rest of the transmission. I'd be extremely cautious about driving it anywhere in that state if I were you.
