Hi there

In the process of replacing both dashboards. The alarm has been changed from the original META to a Cobra system. The LED for the Cobra is on top of the steering wheel binnacle.
However, with the new dashboard I have to fit an LED in the original hole. Contacted Cobra and they say I can run two 12V LEDS on the alarm output.
So, I'll have another flashy-lighty thing to keep the Scrotes at bay!!!

Anybody know where I can get a 12V LED that will fit the existing hole??

Rgds

IIRC Farnell were the only ones that sold the 'recessed' LEDs as used on early cars, the later ally rounded ones are also available at RS, Maplins ... I believe.

What year's your car? Mines a '99 and has a recessed LED in a black-painted aluminium case:

I've seen the back of it and it's like this one except the bezel diameter is 10mm not 7mm.

HI there

Thx for that. I haven't seen the original as it's never been there. Is the hole in the dash 10mm? (not at home at the mo', just trying to order one if I can)
Does anyone do 10mm ones if that's the case?

Cheers

You would be better measuring the hole and matching the LED to the same shape & material as your other ones. Look at the LED spec sheets they tell you the LED size & profile as well as the mounting hole size required.

It was a snug fit in the hole so presumably it is 10mm, but as spend says the best thing is to measure it.

The LED was mounted on a metal plate that was in turn glued to the facia panel.

As I said I'm not at home right now, so no access to the car.

If anyone's got a small dash available could they please measure the LED hole for me. I can then try and order one to be available when I get home.

Cheers

Phil
