Alloy Question
Discussion
Hi fellow Tivver's
I have decided to update the look of my beloved Chim from the original OEM alloy's. But I'm struggling with choice and the mind filed that is offsets, tyres and acceptable size for the aforesaid Chim. I'm looking for something along the lines of Silver stone performance SP12's or the original TVR spiders (though I believe the spiders have some quality issues). Basically a 12 spoke alloy look.
From what I can gather running through old posts around the subject the compromise is on the handling when upgrading to a larger size. The car will never be tracked and is used for "spirited" country road driving. Here's the sizes I believe are acceptable
Front 7-inch x17-inch Tyre sizes: 215/40 17
Rear 8-inch x 18-inch Tyre sizes: 225/40 18 or 245/35 18
Does any one run on these wheels and do you find the in normal (well as normal as any one can drive a TVR) ride compromised? Can anyone recommend a alternative to the SP12's as they are expensive?
I've attached a photo of the purple people eater for anyone who wants to PS their selection for me to look at....................
Thanks in advance
Jason
