Hi guys, just a quick one. I've just bought the above Chim from Offords. Just wondered if anyone on here previously owned her?
I'd like to see if anyone knows her history. She's a 97 4 litre with the facelift dash and door buttons, but old style lights. Starmist blue with magnolia and blue leather. She has approx 53k on the clock. Im going to pay and pick her up hopefully next friday, the guys at Offords have been great so far, can't wait!

This is my first TVR after a long wait, so as soon as I've got her, I'll let you all know.

Thank you!

Oops perhaps I missed a trick there smile

They are doing me a waxoyl (?) though and sorting lots of niggly bits on the car before I collect it. They seem very good, do you use them? I live very close to Fernhurst, so they'll be doing bits to the car if need be in the future.

Not used them but did make enquires about a year ago when I was looking for my Chimaera and found them helpful & knowledgeable. Their servicing rates seem good too.

To be fair though the rain we had over this way over the last week or so has bordered on torrential. Probably only needs a good coat of waterseal and all will be fine.

Thanks! smile

Yes the same one! It seemed dry when I looked at it last night and it had been raining heavily that day. The chap there said it had been outside for a while so had built up some condensation inside, also the drivers window needs raising up a little. It needs a new rear screen at some point so I'll probably give it a good coat of waterproofing at the same time.

It will be living outside, but it will be a daily drive and live under a cover when its raining, so fingers crossed!

I say that it needs a new rear screen, but it might not, the screen is not cracked, just a bit cloudy, can this be polished, or does it need replacing?
Thanks.

Congratulations Aubrey, I'm glad you got one. Do get the cherry bomb exhaust conversion done, it's the one I have on my car which you heard when we met. I think it's only £150 plus VAT and a great sound to have.
I hope you won't be needing my copy of the bible too much but you never know. I'm not sure if you can clear the rear screen, I had a similar problem as well as the stitching being rotten. I had a new one stitched in for around £150. If you need the number of the trimmer who did it for me, he is in Worthing and I can get it for you. Let me know if needed.

Thanks Mike! Yep took the plunge and got one, can't wait to pick it up now. the cherries do sound good, I think I'm going to keep the standard exhaust for the moment and see how it is then might have that done in the future... smile

Its been handy to read the bible and get a feel for things, I'll keep you posted on the screen, thanks very much.

Thanks Davy about APM, I will bear them in mind.

Hi Aubrey,

Congratulations on your new purchase.
Shame you chose the ugly Chimaera, but at least you're in a TVR hehe

For that rear screen, try 303 Aerospace Protectant from The Polishing Company. It really does work wonders on a dirty/scratched plastic screen.

Have fun driving

ETA: I've also heard Renovo plastic screen cleaner works well too.

And when you drop the rear, put a rolled up towel across the screen first, this gives a round radius for the screen to fold around and prevents it from creasing. I find a standard sized towel rolled up with a bit of PVC tape to keep it rolled sits nicely across the screen and drops onto the rear shelf when not in use.

Hi Barreti, thanks very much! I did look a few Griffiths (honest) but after looking in their forum I soon realised I didn't have enough chest hair to own such a monster wink so opted for the drop dead gorgeous chimaera!! They have always been my favourites biggrin

Thanks for the tip on the screen, I will give that a go, I've heard the rolled towel idea from a few people which sounds good, I suppose Griff owners can always use the towel afterwards to polish their medallions biggrin just kidding...

Btw, anyone know when the next Chim meet at Goodwood is? Thanks.

I read somewhere that the West Sussex TVR club meet at the flying club at Goodwood once a month, I'm sure its not just chims though, probably all TVRs smile

Any ideas?
