Can anyone tell me when waxoyling the chassis on my 1998 Chim 500 should the internals of the tubes be done. I have been advised the tubes should be drilled and waxoyl pumped in. Any comments would be appreciated.

Interesting that no one has replied in several days, I've never heard of injecting waxoyl into the tubes, the inside is not usually the problem, it's the outside. IMHO if you use the car daily (including winter) waxoyl is a good preventative measure, but it has to be done early, if rust has already set in, it only slows things down a bit. Better to re-coat with something like POR15 if rust is setting in (surface rust).

I did my outriggers with POR15, the hard job is removing the surface rust and preparing the surface, took me two weekends in all and great result.

I'm not sure I'll do waxoyl again because I've stopped using it daily and no longer park it on the street, removing waxoyl to re-coat it a complete pain, I still havent found any better way to remove waxoyl that a chisle or scraper, maybe steam cleaning?

No don't do it, oxygen feeds rust, if the tubes are sealed then the internals will not rust, by drilling you allow that to happen, IF you damage the car then the flammable waxoyl makes it impossible to weld again. I refurbish TVR chassis for a living and even add extra money to chassis work if it has waxoyl on the outside of the chassis as that is the extra cost of removal prior to shot blasting. Adrian@

I would agree with the above, when I cut the rusty sections out of my 15 year old chassis recently there was minimal surface corrosion inside.
So not really worth the effort anyway.
