There was a 119k miles, early Chim for sale here on pistonheads earlier in the week for £3500. The pistonheader was very honest in the description and mentioned rotten outriggers, noisy diff and clutch likely to require replacement. Now showing as sold on pistonheads.

However, this is now being resold on ebay (at £3550 last time I saw) – with no mention of these faults.

Just a heads up for anyone looking, as I wouldn’t like someone to get stung by not being aware of the likely costs of this 'project'!

Got a link to the e-bay item? Why don't you ask the seller the question as any questions/replies are displayed aren't they?

ie: I have heard the Outriggers are rotten on this vehicle, is this true?

Seller has poor feedback rating.

The answers (and questions) only appear if they provide them. I've asked polite questions about dubious sounding adverts before, and had no reply. It's a pity ebay doesn't provide a comment section on adverts, though I guess it would be abused.

At least a facility to see unanswered questions would be useful.

I spoke to the guy on the phone about the chim, he did mention that it had a noise from the rear but he did not know what it was! He said that he had taken in part ex.

I thought it was too good to be true. A one day listing and a seller that has changed his ID three times in the last few months.

bit upsetting though as I have just bought the fire damaged one that was on PH classified's with all the bits to repair it for 4600. But the motor was in very good nick before the tiny fire that did'nt even burn any of the dash trim!! Just waiting for the guy to deliver it in the next few days. ( just a little excited at this end).

Worst thing is that he's hidden the identities of the bidders, so we can't email them to warn them before they go and stump up. rolleyes

I've bought cars on ebay without viewing them before (although only cheap ones!) and if the item isn't exactly as described you can walk. Hopefully they'll have a good nose around it first.

Not that simple i am afraid, what you may call a Plum another may call reasonable condition to many variables, especially spending thousands,i would want to look at the car 1st,i mean how many of you viewed Chims to be told they where immaculate and you ended up walking away from the vendor once you see the car in the rawfrown about as reliable as a blind date IMHO.
