Not seen it but doesn't sound like a good price at £6.5k with 70k miles when there's one further down on the same year with 42k miles for £250 more and is straight.

If it was a 97-98 in better colour then maybe...

just about all TVR's have been hit at one time or another but may not be on a reg its just the type of car. I would not be put off by a Cat C or D

What do you mean by "hit"?

I assume he means they've all been in an accident of one form or another which of course is rubbish.

Hell of a difference between a car thats been knocked/hit and a cat C.
My car has been in the bodyshop twice, each time for bodywork only damage. No chassis, suspension or anything else and all purely cosmetic. I've all the photos of the knocks if anyone wanted to see them come sale time.
However, a Cat C would really put me off. A Catd D could be OK and is relatively common due to the high cost of body repairs on these cars.

yes if it's on a cat C it is going to have had a big smash, or massive fire damage possibly.

Note the later style front end, later style dash, 4 litre with Estorils, later style recessed number plate, and later door buttons under wing mirror.

He's spent a fair old amount of cash on it, and has probably been repaired to high standard, but at the end of day it's a '95 4.0 cat C. IMO not worth £6.5k when looking at the other stuff listed in classifieds and trader.

''if it's on a cat C it is going to have had a big smash ''- not in all cases as with all cars you simply cannot generalise and each case must be judged on its own merits - the last car I purchased (non TVR )was cat c flood damaged in a main dealer storage compound, all it needed to fix to 100% as new was a new airbag ECU and carpets cleaning/drying, the killer with TVR's is the body part costs and the huge labour costs involved , a cat C is no worse than a cat D it's still going to bring a lower price simply because it's on the register.

i was sure a cat C has to have an engineer look at the car to make sure it has been repairded properly?

if so then i suppose in some ways a cat c would be better than a cat d.

No - the repair is not inspected at all - it's simply a VIC Vehicle Identity Check - costs about £30 and just an attempt to stop ringers , they just check all the numbers match and takes about 15 minutes .
edited to add

more than happy with my cat c chim
repair was carried out at reputable dealers and cost over £8k parts and the same labour in 2002
honest you can't see the joins laugh

At this point it dosn't take much for a chimaera to be Cat D or C as the cost of the lubour for repair is so high
